How to make your social media work.
Love it or hate it, as it stands, social media is vital to a thriving service business, if not essential. This is such a mind-bend for chiropractors as we are out here preaching health, natural living and the dangers of phone use… yet we need that to grow our practice.
So if you are like me and struggle with the concept of social media, let alone have no idea how to make it work to grow your practice, this week is for you.
Here is what I have learned as a technophobe on how to make your social media really thrive! Social media is still something I emotionally struggle with, but for my businesses, it is something that has enabled massive growth.
Here are my Tops 5 Tips to master your social media.
1. Be a Big Fish.
Social media enables you to reach a wide audience but remember people across the world can not jump on a plane to see you. So be the big fish in a small pond. Master your local community with your content. To do this, take pictures and record videos in notable places in your community, not just in your practice. Use #hashtags that target your community, like the name of your town or specific events and places in your city. Become a celebrity locally to grow your practice.
2. It’s not about the numbers.
Similar to the above point. You do not need a million followers, non of whom care for your service. It is better to have just 1000 followers all who listen, subscribe and ask for more from you. This is a motivated audience, essentially a warm lead that is ready to purchase from you.
3. Consistency wins.
If you want to simply reduce your advertising spend, then be consistent. Daily and relevant content means you will generate a following. Layer on top of that some paid advertising, then it will significantly reduce your ‘click per lead’. Meaning cheaper advertising with better results. Consistency also keeps you relevant, nowadays people see your stuff and automatically scroll through your content, if you have not posted regularly, they do not see you as significant and are less likely to buy.
4. Educate, Entertain, Impact.
This is the most valuable social media advice I ever got. To vary your content in a way that keeps your audience engaged. If you are always trying to be funny, people will not take your seriously, if you’re always aiming to educate, people will get bored. And if you’re constantly trying to impact, people will ask you to get off your high horse. The trick here is to vary your content to cover all bases from one post to the next. Educate sometime, entertain others, and occasionally impact them.
5. Invest.
Finally, I cannot stress enough the importance of investing in the right person to help with your social media content. There are so many sharks and wannabees out there for this. So I advise no one other that Lee, his company Film Flow wins every time.
So go on, start swimming and be that big fish to make your practice grow.
With love,
Tom
