Are you winning or losing your most precious commodity?
Is there a day in the week that separates those who win in health and those who lose in health?
I think there is, and I want to take the time to explain how you can make a simple, small and most importantly consistent step toward winning in health and not losing.
We have all lost our health at some point and to some extent, me included. I have been in situations more than once where on the outside/aesthetically I looked healthy but on the inside was very sick, even to the point of having pre cancer of the bowel. And I say this with the aim to inspire you and not alienate you with my thoughts around what separates those winning and those losing health.
It’s Friday afternoon and there are only a couple of hours left of the work week and you are already thinking about the bottle of wine and takeaway you will have tonight and why not? It’s Friday after all…
Granted we all need to relax sometime but Saturday comes around and you feel a little sluggish from the food and drink the night before, so the odd biscuit and cake helps to comfort the situation and the thought of a run can wait until Sunday.
Saturday night comes and conversation flows and why not have a beer and some olives to unwind and enjoy. Then Sunday comes around, feeling a little sluggish but a Sunday walk will blow those cobwebs away. After a nice walk it is important to have a good feed and roll on the Sunday dinner, wine and sticky toffee pudding. That mid afternoon lunch makes the thought of an evening meal less appealing and the idea of snacks a lot better.
Monday comes around and after the food filled weekend and a rude awakening for work, the thought of exercise today can wait until tomorrow.
We have all been there, I certainly have many times, so my simple idea to you, is the days that separate those who win and those who lose in health are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Remember all days have equal opportunity for you to win. Prioritise yourself first, I am not saying go without the treat, what I am saying is start with the exercise, the good meal, the water. Treat yourself with respect and take care of you first, before the temptation carries you away.
How will you choose to win at health? There are seven equal opportunities in the week for you, chose to eat right, move right and think right today and all tomorrows to ensure your health future.
With love
Tom
