Beware the second week.
Happy New Year, I am sure you are all back and raring to go with a year full of opportunity. And like most chiropractors I am sure you have gone back to a chocker block week one.
But then you take a look into next weeks diary and a little panic and uncertainty creep in. The dreaded second week! It is very common for the second week following a holiday or break to be the quiet one, naturally everyone jumps into the first week, those on fortnightly or monthly visits, leaving the second week bare.
Now this isn’t a problem as such as from a business point of view, you should have a goal and calculations over quarters and the year, accounting for these quiet periods.
However, form a productivity point of view and team moral issue, you must do something about this. If you and your team come back week one and rearing to go, perform well and serve to the highest standard for the first week, you have started well on the front foot. But when you hit that quiet second week, it is like Usain Bolt tripping halfway through the 100 meters.
So what can you do to keep the momentum going and really get ahead in the new year?
Here are my Top Tips for a quiet week:
1. Continuations
I have written a blog about this concept already; you can find it here.

But essentially, look for opportunities to invite patients back for an extra adjustment next week. This is complementary and shows you really are invested in helping them (a great message to send the universe). It also begins to inflate your numbers next week, which energetically shows your capacity and keeps you and the team engaged.
2. Project work
What are you goals for 2023? In this what projects do you have to complete? Look at your diary, if there are gaps, make sure to set the time aside to do something productive. The same is true for your team, set tasks and keep everyone engaged on the task in hand, and the mission you have to serve others.
3. Mindset
Protect your mindset, do not be deterred by the quiet week, so focused on the long game, lead by example. Do not let your energy or habits drop. Remember leaders lead, the don’t push.
Leaders Lead
So know that quiet weeks happen, but real growth is found in the compound effect. Instead of going from busy to quiet, to quiet and busy, be sure to use your time effectively and continue the build week on week.
With love,
