Do they even know you?

Building and sustaining a practice relies heavily on the strength of the community that you have, of the vison you cast for your patients and how you show up.

Loyalty to a community, to a tribe is a deep-seated human nature and if you can find and develop that for your practice, you will have no fear in building and maintaining a fabulous practice for life.

I’ll never forget the phone call I had with Jill. COVID had just hit and we did not know what was going on, the first week of UK lockdowns and the whole team where on the phone to patients. I called Jill, a long standing and loyal patient. What she said to me will stick forever. “Would you like me to buy some extra care plans so the practice has the cash to see through this time.”
I remember so well as I didn’t even have an answer for her, I just cried. A massive gesture of caring and support for our community, one she wanted to continue and she wanted to maintain a part of.

The reason I open with this, is that Jill would only have offered something so kind if she knew, liked and trusted us. Far beyond just getting results with your adjustments.

So my question to you is, ‘do your patients really know who you are?’

Do you put on a front in practice, be the professional and act differently elsewhere. Do you put on a front outside the practice with your friends because that’s the way you always have... In essence, do you know who you really are?

Congruency is key to your success not just in practice but in life. The consistent pursuit of showing up as you and being true to you is paramount to be able to give yourself to the world. And the art of success, is finding that thing that you have to give to others and living it.

So, start this week, start with some time in exploring and thinking who you are. What makes to smile, what motivates you versus what you think you should or must be doing. Be strong and brave to lean into who you really are.

Then take that to your practice, if you like T-shirts, sock and sliders then wear them to practice. If you’re young and trendy but love classical music, play that. Whatever it is, the little things, do them.

Trust me it will make all the difference.

You have a real gift and you have a tribe that wants you to lead them. A community can only be led by an authentic leader, that is you.

Remember they must first know you, then they like you, and when they trust you, the sky is the limit.

With love,

Tom
